Who We Are

The Rock Project is the UK’s premier school of rock and pop and was founded in Denbigh, North Wales in October 2005. Since then, The Rock Project now boasts numerous schools around the UK and has taught thousands of young people.

The Rock Project Oxford opened in September 2018. Aaron Iley, started learning guitar at the age of 13, inspired by all the bands his parents had taken him to see at a young age. Having spent 2 years working for The Rock Project Berkshire in 2 different areas, Aaron decided that helping people to have the opportunity to enjoy music as he had was something he wanted to do for the rest of his life.

Aaron’s first band, as a teenager, peaked playing at a sold out show at the Hexagon in Reading to over a 1000 people. Post teenage metal band, Aaron has toured the UK with his former band pop-rock ‘Echoic’ playing at 02 Academies, Sub89 and Dingwalls in Camden as getting featured in/on Kerrang Magazine, Kerrang Radio, Rock Sound and BBC Radio 1 to name a few. Currently Aaron plays with Jazz-pop group ‘Khamsina’ and rising Alt-Rock band ‘InAir., with whom he has also toured, been in Kerrang, on the radio etc., as well as doing sound in various venues across south England.

Alongside his musical endeavors, Aaron has always had a keen eye for business running band and club nights – from 40-750 capacity events. In addition to this Aaron has also made money as a freelance sound engineer, stage rigging, Lighting and effects for shows – this extra income was particularly useful whilst he was studying Law in university!
